A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Use both pages. Read the two model conversations before distributing the paired role cards; partners should see only their own instructions.

  1. Read how the patient explains timing, daily effects and medicines without claiming a definite cause.
  2. Use the review, medicine concern and unclear assessment cards to practise questions and plain-language explanations.
  3. Ask the patient to explain the agreed next step back and request written information or a contact.

Support and extension

Use invented symptoms and medicine names, with no personal disclosure required. Practise communication only: learners must not diagnose, change doses or advise stopping or continuing treatment.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
