Before the lesson
Use both pages with private guest/host cards. Preview make yourself at home, help yourself and I should get going.
- Read the dinner-arrival and leaving models, noting how speakers ask about household preferences instead of assuming rules.
- Role-play a first coffee visit, arriving early for a birthday dinner and leaving for an early workday.
- Summarise the agreed help or travel plan, swap roles and repeat with a different drink or departure time.
Support and extension
Offer a greeting/offer/response/thanks phrase sequence. Extend with a natural follow-up about a shared interest. Household customs vary; use invented homes and respect a guest's decision to leave rather than pressuring them.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
