Before the lesson
Use the single learner page in pairs. Personal or invented responses can vary; there is no fixed answer key.
- Separate the ticket-date regret from the wish for clearer behaviour in the opening exchange.
- Discuss ability, current circumstances and earlier decisions; work through the deadline, neighbour and repair prompts.
- Choose a current difficulty, a past regret and a behaviour wish, then propose a constructive response to each.
Support and extension
Offer wish + past form for present situations, past perfect for regret, and would for a desired change. Use could for ability rather than wish would know.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
