Before the lesson
Keep the key separate. Model I've got a pen and Have you got a pen? Yes, I have. Explain that got remains in the full question but is omitted from the short answer.
- Read Before a lesson and complete Part A, matching have / has to the subject.
- Complete Packing a bag and the negative/question changes in Part C. Check haven't / hasn't against the subject and dialogue meaning.
- Write three true or invented sentences including something not possessed. Use the printed speaking prompts and report one answer.
Support and extension
For support, display I / you / we / they versus he / she / it patterns. For an extension, report several classmates' answers without changing got into a main verb. Accept correct full forms and contractions. Focus on the have-got pattern being practised rather than introducing competing question patterns too soon.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
