Before the lesson
Review countable and uncountable nouns. Keep the answer page separate and model an offer and request with some.
- Read Before a picnic and complete the eight Part A choices.
- Fill Planning a meal, then correct quantity words and make the two Part C negatives with any.
- Write the three food-at-home sentences and plan a meal in pairs, finishing with an offer using some.
Support and extension
For support, mark plural countable and uncountable nouns before choosing much / many. Do not teach some as limited to positive statements: it also appears in natural offers and requests. A lot of is often the everyday positive choice, but much is not universally forbidden in positive sentences.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
